Q&A
1: Can this cabinet be used for FTTH distribution, including splitters?
A: Yes. The FCST03512 supports up to 6 box-type PLC splitters. It is designed to work as an outdoor trunk interface and also as a distribution hub for FTTx networks (FTTH, FTTB). You can place splitters inside to split the signal to multiple homes.
2: Is this cabinet active (powered) or passive?
A: It is a passive cabinet. There is no electrical power inside. It only houses fibers, splitters, splice trays, and adapters. This is exactly what you need for a standard FTTH distribution point — unlike a 5G active cabinet which requires power and cooling.
3: Can I mount it on a wall or a pole?
A: Yes. The cabinet supports outdoor fixed installation and wall mounting. Pole mount kits are available as an option (please confirm with sales).
4: Does it include grounding for metal cables?
A: Yes. The cabinet has secure fastening and grounding protection devices for metal components and armored cables. High-voltage protection grounding is included.
5: I am a wireless operator. Can I use this to convert a 5G cabinet into a fiber distribution hub?
A: Technically you could place this cabinet next to or instead of a 5G cabinet for the fiber distribution part. But we do not recommend putting splitters and passive fiber inside an active 5G cabinet (heat, space, maintenance issues). The industry standard is to use a dedicated passive cabinet like the FCST03512 for FTTH distribution. You can keep the 5G cabinet for wireless equipment and let the FCST03512 handle fiber splitting and termination.
