Fiber Blowing Solution
Fiber Blowing Solution, also known as cable jetting, is when a machine is used to float fiber optic cable through the conduit run by using highly pressurized air to push it forward. While the set-up is more extensive, blowing fiber is great for long distances and can go thousands of feet. As a result, fewer splice points and handholes are needed, which can save on material costs.
Additionally, fewer crew members are needed for the fiber installation process which helps save on labor costs, the largest cost associated with fiber-network construction. However, blowing fiber is a relatively new technology and training is required for proper operation, installation, and maintenance of the equipment. The solution includes HDPE microducts, microduct connectors, microduct closures, microduct cutters, fiber blowing machines, fiber blowing lubricants, air-blown fiber cables and microduct detectors.
Technical Support FAQ
Which products are included in the fiber-blowing solution?
HDPE microduct, microduct connector, microduct closure, microduct cutter, air blown fiber and fiber blowing machine.
How does FCST test the microduct connectors?
We test our microduct connectors in accordance with DIN EN 50411-2-8-2009.
How does FCST test the telecom manhole chambers?
We test our telecom manhole chambers in accordance with EN124: 1994 & ANSI SCTE 77-2017.
What are the advantages of fiber blowing compared with cable pulling?
Fiber blowing is superior to pulling in ways that make it economical, efficient, and safe for placing fiber optic cables. It's the best option for long-distance OSP applications and the installation of fiber into microducts. It also lets you make room for the seamless expansion or upgrade of your existing fiber optic capacity at minimal extra costs
