On The Auxiliary Role of Cable Blowing Bullets in The Cable Blowing Process

Before formally blowing and installing optical fibers, it is necessary to check the connectivity of microducts. This is done by blowing a Blowing Sponge—made of elastic material—into the microduct; if the Blowing Sponge ejects from the other end of the microduct, the route is in good condition.

After inspecting each section of the route, connect the microduct segments via microduct connectors. Then blow the Blowing Sponge from one end of the microduct again until the Blowing Sponge ejected from the other end is clean, thus completing pipeline cleaning.

Once route inspection, cleaning, and connection are finished, add an appropriate amount of lubricant into the microduct to reduce friction between the Blow Fiber and the pipe wall. Next, blow the second guide component into the microduct, and use high-pressure gas to push this component through the entire pipeline, ensuring the lubricant is evenly coated on the inner wall of the pipe.

Pass the Blow Fiber through the cable plug and the drive chamber of the Fiber blowing Machines until it reaches the microduct. Then install a suitable traction component (cable blowing bullet) at the end of the Blow Fiber to reduce the risk of end bending.

To test the impact of cable blowing bullets on optical fiber installation, FCST conducted 15 sets of comparative data analyses on Blow Fibers with and without cable blowing bullets installed at their ends. The tests showed that without a cable blowing bullet, the Blow Fiber experienced cabling jams when passing through microduct connections and areas with significant bends. In contrast, when a cable blowing bullet was installed, the Blow Fiber remained unaffected within the test pipeline, and the blowing process of the Blow Fiber proceeded without interruption.
