What is FTTR?

Before talking about FTTR, let's talk about what FTTx is.

FTTx is the abbreviation of "Fiber To The x", which refers to "fiber to x", where x not only represents the place where the optical fiber arrives, but also includes the optical network equipment installed at that place, and clarifies the area served by the network equipment. For example, the "H" in FTTH is the abbreviation of Home, which refers to fiber to the home. The home fiber optic cable is deployed to the user's home. At the same time, the ONT is installed in the user's home, and the area served by the ONT is one family.

FTTR (Fiber to The Room/Request): Provides fiber optic media access to the room downstream of the ONT. Deploy the FTTR optical gateway in the living room, with the FTTR optical gateway as the core, to build a home optical fiber network. The FTTR optical gateway is connected to the optical network and connected downward to multiple edge ONTs. The edge ONTs support Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi, enter each room with optical fiber, and provide wired and wireless Gigabit coverage for each room.

Home optical network: a home optical cable infrastructure consisting of small optical splitters, invisible optical fibers or ordinary optical fibers, optical fiber panels, and other necessary optical network components.

The FTTR main ONT agent management unit collects home network information from the ONT and reports it to the cloud management platform to realize the visibility, manageability and maintenance of the home network.

The FCST main ONT and the sub-gateway are wired Mesh networking through optical fiber. The whole house uses the same Wi-Fi SSID. The user does not perceive when Wi-Fi is switched, and it roams seamlessly. It walks from one room to another, and from the building. Go up to downstairs, the video won’t freeze, and the game won’t drop. The whole house realizes dual coverage of wired and wireless, and both wired and wireless can reach true gigabit and super gigabit.
